Information architecture

Start with structure. Build the strategy from there.

Most content problems are structure problems: overlapping sections, pages that repeat each other, navigation that mirrors the org chart. I fix the structure first, with AI doing the heavy lifting and me making the calls.

AI-assisted IA review

A new, evidence-based information architecture, and a clear plan for getting there.

£4,000

5 days. £3,500 for charities.

What you get

  • A 1-hour briefing session to agree goals, audiences and scope
  • A tailored inventory report based on page views, search intent, readability and duplication
  • Every page given a red, amber or green rating and an action: rewrite, merge or archive
  • Structure and labelling analysis: duplicates, gaps, overlaps and inconsistent labels
  • A new information architecture, mapped back to the old one, with a migration plan
  • A prioritised action plan: what to fix first, and why

Who it's for

Organisations whose website has grown faster than its structure. Especially if you're planning a redesign, a content migration, or adding AI search or an assistant.

Optional add-on

Content clean-up. I edit directly in your content management system to put the new information architecture in place, ready for AI integration. Price on request, as it depends on the number of pages.

AI where it helps. People where it matters.

AI is brilliant at scale and patterns, but it overlooks the nuance and judgement calls that happen in user-centred design.

AI-assisted

Set the goalposts

With meaningful metrics in place, every page is quickly audited, given a red, amber or green (RAG) rating and assigned an action: rewrite, merge or archive.

02

People-led

Picture the audience

An evidence-led snapshot of audience needs, top tasks and browsing behaviour, linking content back to your key calls to action.

03

AI-assisted

Decide the structure

A new IA mapped back to the old one, with a migration plan ready to go and optional content updates made directly in your content management system.

04

People-led

Test, then strategise

Tree tests with real users confirm the judgement calls about relationships, hierarchies and taxonomies.

AI and your data

I use Claude Pro to speed up first-pass work such as audits, synthesis and early drafts. Data sharing for model training is turned off.

I don't put your members' or staff's personal data into AI tools, unless they're tools you provide and approve.

AI isn't going to fix all your problems. It's a fast assistant, not the decision-maker.

Questions

Do you offer a charity rate?

Yes. The IA review is £3,500 for charities, instead of £4,000.

Do your prices include VAT?

I'm not VAT registered, so there's no VAT to add. The price you see is the price you pay.

What do you need from us?

An hour for the briefing session, access to your website and analytics, and a main contact who can answer questions during the review.

Can we skip straight to a content strategy?

You can, but most organisations get more from starting with the review. It gives the strategy an evidence base, and it often shows the biggest problems are structural.

Do you work in person?

I'm based in Bath and work with clients across the UK, mostly remotely. Workshops can be in person.

Is your content ready for AI chatbots?
